Welcome! This is the official website for the Texas Tech University IEEE Student Branch.

About:

The TTU IEEE Student Branch exists within the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. We interact with the ECE student body and organize various events for the department including company info sessions, social events (volleyball, movie nights, etc…), general meetings, academic tutorials, and we also stock the student lounge with coffee and tea!

We also keep track of Pro Points for the department, and offer Pro Points at all of our events! If you’re interested in attending any of our events, join our Discord for more information (link at the top!).

What are Pro Points?

Professional Service Points, commonly referred to simply as Pro Points are something that IEEE gives to project lab students when they attend events. These Pro Points are equivalent to 10% of the project lab grade, so if you get 5 Pro points, you will get 5 points added to your grade, up to a maximum of 10. If you do not get any Pro Points, then the highest grade you can achieve for Project Lab (without extra credit) is a 90%. (If you’re not in project lab, you don’t need to worry about Pro Points!)

What is Project Lab?

The TTU ECE Department is well known for its series of project lab classes that allow students to get a hands-on learning experience by doing a group project with their peers. The student groups are responsible for weekly presentations, written reports, budgeting, and more! At the end of each semester, the IEEE and the ECE department host ‘Demo Day’ where these lab groups are able to show off the projects they have been working on. If you’re a freshmen or sophomore and have not taken Project Lab yet, IEEE highly recommends attending Demo Day so you can checkout what project the students in the department are working on!
